First Responder Trauma Counselors provides specialized counseling for emergency services personnel and their legal partners for a variety of stressors related to their work and home life, including but not limited to post-traumatic stress injury, anxiety, addiction, depression and grief.

FRTC also provides peer support team member training as well as training to clinical advisors and supervisors of peer support teams. 

FRTC facilitates confidential Critical Incident Processing as necessary and requested by our member agencies.

Our Mission:  FRTC strives to meet the unique psycho-social and physical needs of first responders and frontline workers by providing integrated, whole person care that enhances wellbeing, builds resilience, and increases capacity to manage the challenges unique to the field of Emergency Services, thus ensuring the community is provided with improved public safety.

First Responder Trauma Counselors is dedicated to supporting the lives of professional and volunteer first responders, including firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS pre-hospital transport personnel, emergency room staff, physicians, criminal justice service workers, park rangers, Colorado’s 8th Judicial District Attorney’s Office staff, and their collective family members, by developing honest and empathetic peer support relationships across the 26 first response agencies we serve.  

We strongly believe in the importance and efficacy of community outreach and have created a regional peer support team model, whereby active first responders receive specialized training to respond to fellow first responders and first response agencies in crisis 24/7/365.  

We have united Northern Colorado’s tribe of first responders by creating a Regional Peer Support Team comprised of All Agency, All Badge, All Uniform, All Scrubs ® personnel. This is a network of over 100 culturally competent, trained peer supporters, all of whom have completed FRTC's proprietary 40-Hour National Peer Support Academy and are actively engaged in providing emergency services in Colorado’s Homeland Security Region 9.

We Promise to continue to provide the most current and culturally relevant Peer Support Academy and Peer Support Team training.

We Promise that our frontline Clinicians will always be Culturally Competent and our staff throughout our organization are either Culturally Competent or Culturally Aware.
